2014 AHAC Road to the Legions
WHAT IS IT? The AHAC Road to the Legions was introduced to the AHAC by Aeolus in 2008 to become a year-round competition to promote your homebreds. This competition specifically focuses on both weanling colts and fillies that were bred by yourself. More on the definition of a homebred and the requirements to compete later. This is a prestigious competition that will ultimately decide the value of a breeder and their stock. This competition is held all year long and applies to all AHAC-Hosted shows. AHAC Class-A shows are not to be incorporated into this program. Each AHAC show will have individual classes for competition participants, which includes both a filly and colt division. Only horses approved by the AHAC Staff to compete in the Road to the Legions will be entered in those classes, to give each horse and equal chance.
HOW DO I COMPETE? In order to compete in the Road to the Legions, all you are required to do is breed a colt and/or a filly from your mare. The foal(s) must then be registered. More on registration information will be presented later. Once the foal is registered, it will automatically be entered in the AHAC in the Road to the Legions respective class by the AHAC Staff. This is to ensure that no advantages/disadvantages arrive later down the road. This will result in each foal being entered in the same number of classes and in the same number of shows. The AHAC Staff members will be keeping up with your foals placings and at the end of 2014, a winner will be announced along with the runner-up. There are four seperate competitions for both purebred fillies and colts and Half-Arabian fillies and colts. You are limited to one filly and one colt per person/breeder, per division. To sum it up, you may enter a Purebred Filly, a Purebred Colt, a Half-Arabian Filly, and a Half-Arabian Colt.
REQUIREMENTS TO BE A HOMEBRED: There as been a lot of confusion as to what the true definition of a homebred is, and the AHAC staff has come to the conclusion that we will only accept foals that were bred out of your mare at the time of the breeding. You must own the mare at the time of the foals registration and provide proof of that fact. We will not accept the foal as being your own if you've purchased a breeding to someone elses mare. That is not acceptable in this competition.
HOW TO REGISTER: Keeping in mind that you are limited to one 2014 filly and one 2014 colt out of your mare(s), to register your foal is quite simple. You must fill out the following form and post below. Once you have done so the foal will either be approved/disapproved for the competition. If the foal is approved, we will add him/her to the classlist and he will immediately begin showing. All horses must be registered by January 20th, 2014.
